Growth And Profit Are A Result Of
How People Work Together.

Is that how it’s really working in your organization today?

In many organizations, the opportunity is real, the talent is there, and the ambition remains strong.

Yet the outcomes fall short of what’s possible.

The strategy is rarely a problem.

It’s the operating model — quietly setting the pace, the boundaries, and ultimately, limiting how far you can go.

At some point, the question becomes unavoidable:

Is your operating model limiting your potential?

When organizations grow in size, potential gets constrained

In many organizations, how people work together changes over time—and becomes a constraint on results.

As companies expand, the system becomes more defined—more processes, more coordination and more layers of management.

Over time, the balance starts to shift.

  • Decisions begin to move upward
  • Managers spend more time approving than enabling
  • Information becomes more controlled than shared

The system takes over, instead of supporting people.

Organization becomes more structured, but less responsive.

Leaders get pulled deeper into operations just to keep things moving.

Can organizations scale without the system getting in the way of their people?

Companies can be run differently

What if organizations became more capable as they grew in size, not more controlled?

This challenges a fundamental assumption—that scale requires more control.

Decades ago, Ricardo Semler began exploring a different approach in practice—experimenting with ways to increase transparency, autonomy and shared responsibility inside a growing company.

What emerged was not a model to copy, but a set of principles shaped through real-world experimentation.

→ Curious?.

Companies can be run differently

From real-world practice
to a global movement

These ideas began and grew out of decades of experimentation at Semco—and are now being explored by organizations around the world.

Today, the Semco Style Consultants (Formerly SemcoStyle Institute India) connects a global community of leaders, organizations and practitioners experimenting with more human-centric ways of running companies.

Semco Style Consultants India works with organizations looking to unlock performance, ownership and innovation.

We engaged Semco Style when we encountered reducing ownership levels and productivity as In3 was scaling rapidly. Leadership bandwidth was being consumed in resolving operational issues between departments and was hampering our growth. Under Semco Style consultant’s guidance, we piloted “Self Management” in one of our regional units. Through a series of intensive leadership workshops and “on the job” coaching for the teams on the field, Semco Style helped turn things around quickly. Teams started taking their own decisions, regional business units saw significant jump in its sales while at the same time freeing up leadership bandwidth to focus on strategic initiatives!

Working with leaders to redesign how their organizations operate

The real challenge is not understanding these ideas— it’s making them work in your context.

We work alongside leadership teams to redesign how work happens— through experimentation, learning and adaptation.

Typical areas we explore:

  • Moving decisions closer to the work
  • Making information transparent
  • Giving teams real ownership of outcomes
  • Redefining the role of managers

The goal is not to remove structure or discipline.

It is to design organizations where innovation, ownership and resilience grow alongside the business.

Every organization approaches this differently.

But it always begins the same way: a leadership team willing to commit to rethinking how their organization works.

Take the first step

You might be wondering—will this work in your organization?

It’s a fair question.

Every company has its own context, culture and constraints.

The only way to answer it is to explore what this could look like in your context.

Building a successful business is one challenge.

Designing an organization that can keep up with it is another.
